We have had a wonderful experience at Destination Smile with Dr. Fridgen. The facility is just perfect for kids and all the staff members are very friendly. This was our daughter’s 3rd visit. She has been going since she had first 2 teeth and now has almost entire set of milk teeth. She loves going there and this time she wanted to visit there very next day as well since she loves it there. It’s very clean, multiple stations so wait is never very long and the doctor and staff are very knowledgeable. Love it there and will highly recommend it.

Give Kids a Fresh Start for the School Year
The beginning of a new school year brings new teachers, classmates, and experiences. A healthy smile can help children feel comfortable and confident as they take on new challenges.
Regular dental visits help keep teeth and gums in good condition. They also allow dentists to find small concerns before they become larger problems that may require more treatment.
Why Pediatric Dental Visits Matter
Children’s mouths are constantly growing and changing. Baby teeth make room for permanent teeth, and every stage of development is important.
A pediatric dentist understands the unique needs of young patients. During dental checkups in San Jose, children receive care designed for their age and stage of growth. These visits help monitor development while supporting healthy oral habits.
What to Expect During a Checkup
A back-to-school visit is simple and focused on prevention. Your dental team will examine your child’s teeth and gums, looking for signs of cavities or other concerns.
Many appointments also include a professional cleaning. This helps remove plaque that can build up even when children brush regularly at home.
Your child’s visit may include:
- A complete dental exam
- A gentle teeth cleaning
- Monitoring of tooth development
- Oral hygiene guidance
- Recommendations for healthy habits
These services work together to support a healthy smile throughout the school year.
Healthy Habits Make a Big Difference
Good oral health starts at home. Children should brush their teeth twice each day and floss daily. Parents can help by encouraging healthy snacks and limiting sugary drinks.
Creating a simple routine helps children build habits that can last a lifetime. Consistency is one of the best ways to protect growing smiles.
Beat the Back-to-School Rush
As summer comes to a close, dental schedules often fill quickly. Planning ahead gives families more flexibility and helps ensure children receive care before classes begin.
Scheduling dental checkups in San Jose before the first day of school can help reduce the risk of dental problems during the academic year. Preventive care allows children to focus on learning, playing, and enjoying time with friends instead of dealing with tooth discomfort.
